 Sunday 8th November saw the finals of the 2015 tournament. It was a fantastic day of tennis with 6 closely fought finals. The men’s singles pitched Joe Harris against Hyder Al Said, Hyder put up a good fight but Joe was the winner 6-3, 6-4. The ladies final was a repeat of last year with Clare Hewitt against Ruki Darawalla, these 2 have met in the final 4 times before, this year it was Clare’s turn to win with a final score of 6-0, 6-3 The men’s doubles was a tense 3 setter, brothers Sam and Oliver Symes defeating Zenon Rozwalka and Miro Stojanovic. Clare and Ruki were paired against newcomers Louise Bush and Kerry Maguire, a fine match with some fantastic rallies was won by Clare and Ruki 6-4, 6-2. Another new pairing this year was Oliver Symes and Zvezdana Gemovic, the youngsters put up a great fight but were defeated by Joe Harris and Kelly Maguire 6-2, 6-3. First time finalists in the men’s singles handicap event was between Nigel Cupid and Gerard O Connell, it couldn’t have been much closer with the final score 7-6, 7-5 going to Nigel.

A great competition including more than 60 members from the club, we look forward to 2016’s event!
